The Journalist Award (JA) is granted by the European Commission to journalists who contribute to a better public understanding of the benefits of diversity and the fight against discrimination in society. This event gave the European Commission the opportunity to discover a journalist with great talent and enabled Mr. Rogalinski to deepen his passion for social issues.Under the initiative of the European Commission, Mr. Pawel Rogalinski took part in the 8th Meeting of People Experiencing Poverty in Brussels in 2009.At these regular EU Meetings, the Presidency of the EU gives the opportunity to people experiencing poverty to talk to the decision makers and journalists – such as Mr. Pawel Rogalinski – who are specialised in poverty and discrimination issues and write about these matters with passion and interest.Further to this, the European Commission invited Mr. Pawel Rogalinski to participate at the Third Equality Summit in 2009 in Stockholm. The purpose of this annual meeting was to share knowledge and effective ways of working against all forms of discrimination. The meeting also gave opportunity to journalists – like Mr. Pawel Rogalinski himself – to attend special workshops focused on the topics of the Summit and to interview Mr. Špidla, former EU Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities and Mr. Hammarberg, the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights. At both events, the European Commission was delighted about the substantive coverage produced by this journalist on these events and his contribution to raising awareness about these issues not only in Polish media, but also in UK, the United States and Australia. This is why the European Commission invited Mr. Pawel Rogalinski to attend the 9th EU Meeting of People experiencing Poverty, which will take place in Brussels, on 25 and 26 June 2010.If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
